Record votes received for Calgary Choice Awards Nominees – 15,665!
Calgary - Public nominations of Calgary and surrounding area businesses for the third annual 2011 Calgary Choice Awards opened March 1, 2011 atwww.calgarychoiceawards.ca and remained open until April 30, 2011. Over three hundred and fifty companies were nominated.
The official 2011 Calgary Choice Award Nominees were posted on May 30 at www.calgarychoiceawards.ca and the public was invited to vote online May 30 – Sept. 1, 2011 for their favorite businesses in twenty Categories. There is no fee to nominate or vote for a business. Each nominee was been notified and was given the responsibility to promote themselves to clients and contacts to garner votes. To date we have received over 65,000 hits to the website (since February). In 2009, total votes received were 1200, in 2010, 5000 and this year, a staggering 15, 665 votes registered during the public voting period.
MediaWorks Corp will again be producing this year’s star studded red carpet Awards Gala planned for Friday, September 30, 2011 in the Palomino Ballroom at the BMO Centre (Calgary Stampede Grounds). This year, the lovely Jill Belland from City TV will be emceeing and announcing the winners and presenting their “gold star” trophies , in each of the 20 categories at the Gala. Media, local celebrities and over 300 guests will walk the red carpet and be on hand to celebrate in the festivities.
Gala will include a photoshoot on the red carpet, canapés and a death by Chocolate, live music by Calgary’s best blues band Ron Burke and Alittle Voodoo, door and corporate table draws, and an outstanding live and silent auction featuring over 80 fabulous items. Auction items will include everything from decadent spa packages, travel, restaurant passports, a family photography packaged (valued at over $5800!!), a private nocturnal zoo reception for you and 11 friends, Flames tickets in the Avison Young Club, A death by chocolate party in your home with Papa Chocolat himself, Mr. Bernard Callebaut, Dinner for 8 at Q Haute Cuisine Restaurant with Conservation and Adventure travel expert Brian Keating and the list goes on... New this year, all guests will receive a “SWAG bag filled with special gifts valued at over $100..
